So you’ve spent hours upon hours putting together a beautiful website and now you are ready for the world to see it! But as it is right now, your website is an undiscovered island

in the middle of the internet ocean, and you, the creator are its only hope of having it discovered by the outside world. Luckily, out of the goodness of our hearts, Web Traffic Resource decided to do all of the research for you.

Be warned though…simply reading all of the information below will not magically send 1 million visitors to your website. To really increase traffic to your website you need to take action. If you want your website to be a success, the key is consistent promotion. It might take a while for your promotion efforts to bear any results, making it very easy to lose focus and motivation. But if you put in the effort and utilize the strategies below, your deserted island of a website will eventually start receiving more visitors than you ever could have imagined.

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

– Social Media Promotion –

You are probably familiar with Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, LinkedIn, and all of the hundreds of social media conglomerates on the internet these days. Social media marketing can be by far the most powerful method to increase traffic to your site if leveraged correctly. With over 500 million users on Facebook, they have more traffic then they no what to do with and its up to you to funnel some of that traffic to your sites. Create an attractive fan page or twitter profile and slap a pretty link to those profiles on your site. Now make sure you update those profiles constantly with fresh, brief content for your followers to eat up. Make sure you include social sharing buttons on every page of your site. You never know when it might go viral. Check out FaceBookFlow for Tips and Tricks related to Facebook.

– Banner Ads/Media Buys –

Purchasing banner ads on related websites is a common way to increase traffic. You can do this by simply contacting the owner of a particular site and arranging a deal, or if you have a larger budget you can go through a third party advertising platform such as Burst Media, DoubleClick, or FastClick.

– Link Exchanges –

Exchange links with other sites in your niche. The more high quality sites you have linking to your site, the higher your site will rank in the search engines. Higher rankings = more traffic. Bingo. The easiest way to initiate a link exchange is to manually contact the owners of each site. Yes, it might be time consuming, but trust me its worth it in the end. ;)

– Adsense/PPC Campaigns –

If you have an advertising budget, Pay-per-click campaigns are an excellent way to bring in highly targeted traffic to your site. If you intend on selling a product or service, designing a profitable PPC campaign is the way to go. Google Adsense is the authority in PPC campaigns and that is for a reason. They have the most publishers and the best software. Although some would argue that the Facebook ads have bypassed Google Adsense in effectiveness. We here at WebTrafficResource believe that they are both extremely powerful and should be used for different purposes. Stay tuned for more on that ominous statement.

– Offline Advertising –

With all of this talk of promoting on other websites and driving web traffic, don’t forget who we are trying to bring to your site, real people. Those real people are doing real people things right outside your window. So print out some business cards, make some posters, create an offline contest, and spread the word about your website. In fact, word of mouth is still the most powerful way to bring visitors to your website.

– RSS Feed Promotion –

Burn your Feed on FeedBurner [LINK]. Before you know it you will have thousands of people reading your content on their favorite RSS syndicators.

– Fiverr –

Fiverr offers you an army of people willing to do small jobs for you. Well guess what, traffic generation happens to be a repetitive task. You can get people to like and share your Facebook page, add links to their websites, and even do some great offline promotion for your site, all for $5. Not a bad deal if you ask us.

– Youtube –

Never underestimate the power of youtube as a traffic source for your site. The beauty of youtube is that you don’t need to be producing high quality full-length films to get views. By simply offering a video with informative or entertaining content, you can receive thousands of views. Just paste the link to your site in the description or watermark the URL to your site somewhere on the video and you are good to go.

– Article Marketing –

Article marketing is one of the top ways to improve your search engine rankings and bring in organic traffic at the same time. Post your articles to free article directories such as Ezine Articles or ArticlesBase. These articles rank extremely high in the search engines and will provide your site with some high quality back linkage. It’s a no brainer.

– Hub Pages –

A hub page such as a squidoo lens will essentially have the same effect as a free article. It’s a great bucklink for your site and the power of comments gives your hub page a more social element.

That’s all for now. Of course these aren’t the only ways to increase traffic to your website, but these are our favorite. This is just a general outline to get you started. Stay tuned to our blog for more updates and detailed methods.
